MC&MCA January Annual Meeting

January 21, 2020 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm UTC+0

Description

As the holiday season ends and the days get somewhat back to normal, it is time for the “Annual MC&MCA Meeting.” In January of each year, in a true democratic style, we invite all of our contractor and supplier members to meet, be briefed, and be brought up to speed on what the association is doing for its members. Impute and reaction is wanted and encouraged!

At the Annual Meeting, members will also be electing a new president to lead the MC&MCA and electing new board members to serve two-year terms on the board as well. We are still looking for contractors and suppliers to run for the board. If you or someone from your company is interested in running for the board of directors or serving on a committee, please contact Gary Botzek.

Come and meet the new MC&MCA Management Team: Director of Membership and Promotion Mark Severson and John Nesse, Principle of Management Guidance LLP.

Severson brings years of sales and marketing experience at American Artstone and Anchor Block. He will be the “face of the association” and work with the membership and lead the marketing efforts with IMI and the design community, Mark can be reached at mseverson@mcmca.com or 621-581-3157.

Nesse, an attorney with a law degree from St. Thomas, is co-owner of Management Guidance LLP. His firm will provide the “homebase” administrative services needed to keep the association active and moving forward. Nesse advised the MC&MCA through the negotiations of the current labor contracts and will lead us in the fringe fund trustee and other labor relations matters that come before the association.

The new “home” for the MC&MCA will be in Mendota Heights! Current Executive Director Gary Botzek will remain on staff through June and retire following the annual golf tournament.

Members will be briefed on the new 2020 budget. Note that the new labor contract that kicked in on May 1 provides the MC&MCA with 15 cents for each bricklayer hour worked in 2019. That number increases to 25 cents per hour on May 1, 2020. The 2020 MC&MCA budget reflects the investment of those new dollars in personnel and program. Emphasis continues in marketing to the design community to win back market share for masonry and concrete materials and union workers. Worker recruitment is also strongly backed and funded by the MC&MCA in recent years. Come and see where your money is being spent!
